Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr. was first elected to represent HD-33 in 2006. His current committee assignments include posts on the House Corrections, Defense and Veteran's Affairs, and House Administration committees, and during his first term was a member of the Economic Development, Law Enforcement, and Rules and Regulations committees.
Ortiz earned his Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University and he is currently employed as the president of OCS Group, Inc., and is the former Nueces County Democratic Party chairman.

Join Us For Our Christmas Party And Coat Drive!
Dear Friends,
As we celebrate this Christmas season, we must first give thanks for blessings throughout this past year. As we reflect on this year, we are thankful for great friends, and the joy of family. We must also all remember there are many families who will not enjoy the gifts of fellowship and warmth.
We are asking for your help to make a family’s Christmas special this year. Please join us for fellowship at our Christmas Party and bring a new or gently used coat for those in need. Also, you can make a donation to the MAP of Texas. With your donations, we will be able to purchase toys for these families, and help make their Christmas special.
